Transforming Feathers

The birds from Rovio are back at it. This time partnering with the long-running franchise of Transformers for a fresh take on a fan favorite. While no official release date has been listed, matching up with the Transformers: Age of Extinction movie on June 27 would be a good bet.

While recent title sales have fallen off from the original smash=hit numbers, Angry Birds titles are still popular. And the games are still addicting. The physics based Angry Birds Space launched a new type of play where strategy is just as important as aim. If Rovio sticks to the formula, there are many possibilities offered by the mash up with transforming robots, cars and planes.

Yes, Star Wars fans, it has come to this.  Angry Birds is so popular it is now eligible to become a Star Wars spoofer.

Techsnoop for one is happy.  Star Wars is a favorite franchise and the Angry Birds games have become a favorite also.  The blending can only mean good, clean family smack-down fun.

In the world of mobile gaming, Rovio has hit another home run.  This game will use the physics of Angry Birds Space to provide the mindless mayhem the franchise is famous for.

According to TechCrunch, the birds play Jedi and the pigs play the evil Empire to no real surprise.  In addition, there will be board games, plush characters and costumes.

The actual game does not come out until November 8, but the toys and costumes will debut today at Toys R’ Us.

If you like Angry Birds but were secretly rooting for the pigs, this game is for you.  The new game Bad Piggies brings a new level of interactivity to a great game franchise.  Build your own transportation to fit the environment of each level and get those birds!

Rovio has done it again and none of us will get anything done for weeks.

Ok, admit it.  You are addicted to Angry Birds.  Whenever you have a free minute, or even under your desk at work, you’re not texting, you’re shooting birds at pigs with a slingshot.  You compete with friends and family to see who can get to the upper levels first and who has the high score.

I’m with you.  Yes, I resisted at first, thinking “shoot birds at pigs, really, I have better things to do”.  Turns out, I don’t.  And neither do millions of other people.  Angry Birds is a bona fide cultural hit across nations, languages and now possibly, planets.

Rovio has taken a simple game and made physics addicts out of over 700 million people.  And you thought physics didn’t have real life uses.
