If you have been sad since Star Wars The Clone Wars ended, try getting your fix in the games.

SWTOR, or Star Wars The Old Republic is now a free-to-play game with intensely rich and beautiful graphics.  Lightsabers, blasters and jetpacks, oh my!

The characters are detailed and richly colored, the ships and space stations are nearly real-world level.  In addition, the characters and objects are expertly animated so the movements are smooth, not jerky.  And of course, the sound has that other-world quality we have associated with Star Wars since Episode I.  Even on the free level there are great stories to follow and action to enjoy.  As with all free-to-play games, there is fine print or restrictions.  Read them here.

But what makes this game great are the graphics.  You feel that you are in a movie especially if you opt to plug into a large monitor or HDTV.

Yes, Star Wars fans, it has come to this.  Angry Birds is so popular it is now eligible to become a Star Wars spoofer.

Techsnoop for one is happy.  Star Wars is a favorite franchise and the Angry Birds games have become a favorite also.  The blending can only mean good, clean family smack-down fun.

In the world of mobile gaming, Rovio has hit another home run.  This game will use the physics of Angry Birds Space to provide the mindless mayhem the franchise is famous for.

According to TechCrunch, the birds play Jedi and the pigs play the evil Empire to no real surprise.  In addition, there will be board games, plush characters and costumes.

The actual game does not come out until November 8, but the toys and costumes will debut today at Toys R’ Us.

Wish granted.  Several companies including Chaotic Moon Labs, have developed software and hardware applications to create shopping carts, skateboards and video games you control with your mind.

giraffeTech gifts are the most requested on all gift lists from children to seniors. Everyone wants gadgets to communicate, play and be more productive. This means tablets, laptops and smartphones in most cases.

If you are fortunate enough to get one of your prized gadgets, don’t forget to accessorize with virus protection, screen protectors and cases. These seemingly small items can prevent tons of heartache later. A dropped phone can contain your entire life from phone numbers and e-mail addresses to precious pictures of family. Any items not backed up can be lost if the phone is damaged badly enough. A case can insulate your phone against shock in the event of a drop and save your information.

Also, antivirus protection is not just for computers anymore. Now most viruses are being written for smartphones and tablets. These devices are even more likely to have personal information saved and hackers are targeting this information in the quest for identity theft. Download a free antivirus program from your wireless or internet provider as soon as you get your new device.

Back up your information to a cloud service such as Google or iCloud. In the event your device is damaged or stolen, most information can be retrieved and downloaded to your replacement. For information on your SD card, be sure to back it up to your computer at least once a month.

These tips can keep you enjoying your new gadgets longer with no regrets.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Gear from Techsnoop!
