If the only thing holding you back from buying an iPad was the price or size, the iPad Mini is for you.  All the features and sleekness of an iPad with less price and bulk (7.2mm thick and only .68lb), make this a must-have for you.  Hurry, go get one now.

But if you are budget conscious, know that there several 7 inch alternatives to the iPad Mini.  Google has the Nexus with great features and reviews, Samsung has the Galaxy Tab 7.0 and of course, Amazon has the Kindle Fire.  Of this group, only the Galaxy Tab approaches the price of the iPad Mini.

Specs and usage for these products are similar so the decision comes down to what is the most important feature to you.  Personally, Techsnoop loves many Apple products, but has an aversion to being held hostage to software.  When you purchase a product, it should be yours to use as you wish without restrictions on where and how you get your software.

The maximum amount of price, features and software flexibility comes from the Nexus.

Nintendo 3DSWell the holiday purchasing season is upon us and some stores even have Christmas decorations out even though Halloween has not yet passed.  Since we are all watching our wallets this year, let’s take a look at some economical purchases available to bring a smile to your loved ones.

First up; if your loved one was lucky enough to get the new iPhone 4S, consider this little add on that might make their life cooler.  A bluetooth linked keyboard for those who just can’t get with the virtual keyboard thing.  Or, if you have productivity in mind, the Apen A4 digital pen hooks to your iPhone or iPad and allows you to send hand written notes and drawings to your device.

For the gamer crew, the price on the Nintendo 3DS has been slashed almost $100.  A great bargain and a great gift all in one.  Your classic win-win, you’re a hero and keep your money.

Tablet.  At every price range there are great tablets available.  The Amazon Kindle Fire, HTC Jetstream and Flyer and, of course, the iPad2 all are great choices with features and prices to fit most budgets.  An excellent choice for students, business people and yourself!

I’ll let you mull these ideas over and come back with more soon!
